TEH73 (Tactical Electric Hemisphere), Commemorating the 73rd Birthday Anniversary of My Mother, Teh Rauyah Mohd Salleh
Today, 22 December 2018 is the 73rd birthday anniversary of my mother, Teh Rauyah Mohd Salleh. To commemorate this special day, I have designed a unique concept aircraft calleh "TEH73", where "TEH" stands for, Tactical Electric Hemisphere, carrying the meaning, "hemispheric-designed electric-powered aircraft that can tactically be mobilized"
My mother & I.

As the name indicates, TEH73 is designed around a hemisphere, by installing a suitable fuselage and wing into a hemisphere.
TEH73, viewed from the sides.
The hemispheric-shaped aircraft has 2 unique air intakes, 1 at each wingtip, but a rather conventional single centerline nozzle at its rear-end. The air from the intakes flow into a hemisphere where there is a contra-rotating propeller.
TEH73, viewed from the front.
The contra-rotating propeller accelerates the air before channeling it either to the perimetric nozzle for VTOL (vertical take-off & landing) flight or horizontal nozzle for horizontal flight. The hemispheric shape compresses the accelerated air. The contra-rotating propeller cancels the torque and stabilizes the aircraft without the need of a vertical stabilizer.
The contra-rotating propeller inside the "hemisphere".
A very unique feature of TEH73 is its VTOL perimetric nozzle. During VTOL, the entry into the horizontal nozzle is closed, and the air is forced to escape downward from the hemisphere via the perimetric nozzle. This air provides the vertical thrust. The perimetric "footprint" provides stable ascend and descend motions for the aircraft. For horizontal flight, the entry towards the perimetric nozzle is closed while the entry into the horizontal nozzle is opened, and air is accelerated rearward into the horizontal nozzle and out of the nozzle as the horizontal thrust.

The employment of hemispheric structure in this conceptual design is to allow a horizontal installation of a significantly wide contra-rotating propeller. If such propeller is installed conventionally in vertical configuration, a large frontal cross-section area would have resulted and negatively affects the aerodynamic. The hemisphere is also to compress the air as air is "focused" by the hemispheric shape.
The most significant however is the fact that TEH73 concept is very suitable to be developed into flying saucer concept based on its design and propulsion system. This alone will create great opportunities and potentials to TEH73.
