8-PROP 12-SEAT VTOL AEROPLANE TO COMMEMORATE 812 UNITED MALAYSIANS DEMONSTRATION


On 8 December 2018, more than 1.5 million Malaysians have participated in "812 United Malaysians peace demonstration" in Kuala Lumpur. In term of number of participants, it was the biggest demonstration ever held in Malaysia. The objective of the demonstration was to demonstrate to the Malaysian government that the Malaysian people are united and the government have to respect that unity in making any decision that affect the people, be it short or long term. At that time, the demonstration was also to show the unity of the people against the possible ratification of ICERD (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) by the government.

The demonstration was not only peaceful and successful, but it was also surprisingly well conducted that although the number of participants had reached millions, the participants did not leave noticeable rubbish on the street, very unlike the BERSIH (ironically, "bersih" is a Malay word meaning, "clean") series of demonstrations, which has not only left significant amount of rubbish on the street, but also has caused significant vandalism and destruction of public facilities and private properties.

To commemorate the success of the 812 United Malaysian peace demonstration and immortalize the historic event, SOLVES has produced a conceptual design of 8-prop 12-seat VTOL (vertical take-off & landing) aeroplane called, "Unity812".

Unity812 is powered by 8 units of electric ducted fans, that can be oriented vertically to provide vertical thrust for vertical take-off and landing, and horizontally to provide horizontal thrust for horizontal forward flight. The 8 ducted fans are installed between 2 fuselages. This aeroplane can carry 12 people including a pilot and co-pilot or 12 passengers in fully autonomous mode.

An interesting feature of Unity812 is its twin identical fuselages, where each fuselage can accommodate 6 people. The employment of the identical fuselages connected by 2 identical twin wings at the front end and rear end, symbolizes unity due to similarities. The employment of these identical structures also simplifies and reduces the production and operation cost of this aeroplane as exactly the same components and processes can be applied for the identical structures.

Unity812 is suitable for inter-city transportation and within-the-city-area commuting as the aeroplane is electric-powered and VTOL-capable. There are many innovative applications of Unity812. Having 2 fuselages with 6 seats each enables the unique aeroplane to function as specialized corporate and VIP aeroplane.

Unity812 is suitable to carry 2 groups of business or political executives simultaneously that need privacy from each other, but sharing a destination. Unity812 is also suitable to carry 2 groups of rock or pop bands sharing a destination, or a band with its concert crews.

As a VIP transporter, Unity812 can carry the top echelon VIPs in a fuselage and lower echelon VIPs in another fuselage, or a royal family in one fuselage and its crews in the other fuselage.

Unity812 however is the 2nd concept of twin-fuselage aeroplane published by SOLVES. The 1st concept was INSECT (Integrated Near Space Ecosystem Carrier Transporter).
