CAN VERY LARGE PASSENGER PLANES ACCOMMODATE FUTSAL COURT ?
Yes, if the planes are of "Y-fuselage" design.
On 13 Oktober 2018, Malaysian newspapers have reported that the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Mahathir Mohamad has expressed his vision that future large passenger planes may be able to accommodate futsal court (PM bayang kapal terbang masa depan ada futsal). Sports recreational facilities like futsal court will be useful for very long distance and long period flight that exceeds 12 hours. Large aircraft engine technology has evolved significantly to enable such flight, but large aircraft design, particularly that of very large passenger planes still has not. The design to accommodate very large number of passengers is done basically by only increasing the diameter and length of the fuselage, which have a practical limit.
I have produced a few concepts with new fuselage design to accommodate much greater number of passengers without increasing the practical diameter and length of the fuselage called, "Y-fuselage", as the fuselage resembles the capital letter "Y". This fuselage enables large passenger planes remain at the practical size of Boeing 747, but can carry twice the number of passengers with sports recreational facilities such as futsal court.
A conceptual design called, "Why600" with a length and wingspan of 64.0m (the size of Boeing 747 & smaller than Airbus A380) can carry up to 600 passengers (including 30 business class passengers) and a recreational futsal court.
Another conceptual design called, "Why1000" with the same length and wingspan can carry up to 1000 passengers without a futsal court, and 500 passengers with a minimum size (16m X 25m) competition futsal court.
To avoid the center of gravity from being located too far at the rear, as most of the passengers are seated at the rear, the engines are moved forward - the reason the 3 engines of Why1000 are positioned quite forward.
However, Why600 and Why1000 need to perform HALE (high altitude & long endurance) flight (> 18,000m from sea level & > 12 hours duration) above all possible atmospheric turbulence to enable safe & practical futsal recreational activities and competition.
Instead of futsal court, the aircrafts however may accommodate other recreational facilities such as auditorium or theater. The following is Why600 accommodating 2 auditoriums with 120 seats each. Each auditorium seat is equipped with seat belt for the safety of the passengers when the plane flies through turbulence at lower altitudes.
I have posted "Y-fuselage large passenger plane" for the first time on facebook on 21 September 2018:
Both Why600 and Why1000 are the content of "50 CONCEPT AIRCRAFTS", the book I am completing to commemorate my 50th birthyear in 2019.
